Introducing GRIP

Hi everyone,

We know the last 18 months have  been a challenging time for most people, not only because society and the working day has been redefined by Covid-19 but, particularly for our industry, it’s highlighted both the need for good recordkeeping and the challenges to achieving that.

We’ve been a bit quiet during this time as we get our head around these challenges and rethink how we collaborate and work with you to not only meet those challenges, but to improve recordkeeping in government.

In the past we’ve focussed on the Act and compliance. Part of our rethink was to turn our attention to you – to your organisation’s challenges and needs. This meant reimagining our approach and applying different principles to the challenges such as Human Centred Design (HCD), Disruptive Innovation, and Lean/Six Sigma.

The outcome is a new strategic plan – the Government Records Improvement Program – aka GRIP.

GRIP has three strategic aims that act as a roadmap for the services we will be offering in the future:

The three key pieces of work for the GRIP work

And central to GRIP are your needs and how we can work with you to meet those needs. To give you practical tools, advice and support to improve recordkeeping in government. To develop and provide services, resources and training that makes records management easy to understand and easier to integrate for everyone across Queensland Government.

Over the next few months, our blogs will dive deeper into what GRIP’s aims involve and share with you some of the GRIP projects underway, insights into the techniques we have been using and how you can be involved in shaping the future of GRIP itself.

For now, thank you for your patience, it’s great to be back, and we look forward to working with you on the challenges we face together.

The GRI Team
