Today, we have released our Records Management Challenge Training.
The Records Management Challenge Training is part of the Recordkeeping Transformation Program, which aims to improve the standard of records and information management across government.
The Challenge is a step up from Recordkeeping and You training, released in June. This new learning tool allows public service employees to consolidate their recordkeeping knowledge and skills in a simulated work situation.
The module uses gamification techniques to guide learners through their records management responsibilities while building a new park in the fictional town of Lamingtown. It provides an overview and simulated work situation of public service employees creating, managing and disposing of records.
By simulating a work situation, it highlights the consequences to business processes, service delivery and community outcomes if staff don’t properly create and manage records.
The training is based on the award-winning City of Sydney Records Challenge and has been customised for Queensland and Qld State Archives with permission under a creative commons licence.
The Records Management Challenge, along with the Recordkeeping and You Awareness training, can be used for staff inductions, as a refresher or as part of a wider records management program in your agency.
Both training modules can be accessed via the ForGov website or you can host it internally on your e-learning management system.
For more information about the training modules, or if you would like an LMS version for your agency, contact the Government Recordkeeping team on 07 3037 6630 or email rkqueries@archives.qld.gov.au.
If, after you do the training, you would like to provide feedback, please email us at the above address.
